Their eleventh studio album Horizons/East was released in September 2021. The band's tenth album, Palms, was released in 2018. In 2016, Thrice released their first post-reunion album, To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere. Kensrue and Teranishi decided to reform the band in 2015 after attending a Brand New concert. In 2011, Thrice announced a final tour and an imminent hiatus. The most recent albums feature a refined combination of the band's different experiments and explorations. The band's seventh album, Beggars, was released on August 11, 2009, and their eighth, Major/Minor on September 20, 2011.
Each of the four six-song EPs of the Alchemy Index features significantly different styles, based on different aspects of the band's musical esthetic which reflect the elemental themes of fire, water, air and earth, both lyrically and musically. In 20, Thrice released The Alchemy Index, consisting of two studio albums that together make a four-part, 24-song cycle. Their fourth album Vheissu (2005) made significant changes by incorporating electronic beats, keyboards, and a more experimental sound. This style is exemplified on their second album, The Illusion of Safety (2002) and their third album The Artist in the Ambulance (2003). The group was founded by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Kensrue and lead guitarist Teppei Teranishi while they were in high school.Įarly in their career, the band was known for melodic hardcore punk music based in heavily distorted guitars, prominent lead guitar lines, and frequent changes in complex time signatures. Please enjoy.Thrice is an American rock band from Irvine, California, formed in 1998. The best THRICE albums are still The Artist In The Ambulance and The Illusion Of Safety and this will never change (once a 4 you're nothing more sorry Vheissu). Please listen to "Scavengers" here and post your incorrect takes about the career and future and legacy of the band Thrice underneath. What I mean by this is that it contains both chorus harmonies and a breakdown, and both these things are good in a way that sounds like THRICE doing things they are good at. This impression is supported by the single "Scavengers", which is both a pretty solid tune and one of the heavier things THRICE have released since their hiatus. The artwork of Horizons/East is also far from great, but it does fuck with a tipsy perspective - so much so that some will posit the band to have regained their claws. I have never seen anyone post anything positive about its artwork. Sputnikmusic Staff Reviewer SowingSeason described Palms as "well worth enduring a few ear-grating minutes" and "willing to vary the tempo", while recently reclusive user Larkinhill coined it as "just boring". It is also not so exciting news because their last album, 2018's Palms was a mediocre slew of departures that didn't arrive anywhere and rockers that didn't rock. This is exciting news because THRICE topped the Sputnikmusic user poll for Album Of The Decade 2000-2009 with their album Vheissu, the apparent TPAB of cryptoevangelical '00s post-hardcore. Pre-orders are available here for those who pre-order things. It is called Horizons/East and you can listen to it legally on September 17th. The post-cryptoevangelical alternative post-post-hardcore Californian rock band THRICE have announced a new album.
